In an initiative to promote safety and help reduce the shocking casualty rate amongst young drivers the Chelmsford & District Group of Advanced Motorists and the Driving Instructors Club of Essex (D.I.C.E.) have launched a scheme aimed at teaching young drivers basic motoring skills before they have reached the legal driving age of 17. |

Driving lessons are conducted by DSA approved driving instructors from D.I.C.E. using dual controlled cars on private land at the Earls Colne Business Park every third Sunday in the month between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Parents can drop off their sons/daughters and while away the hour using the excellent Golf Club house facilities on site, or bring their clubs and spend an hour on the driving range! An initial fee of £24 covers registration and the first one hour lesson - each one hour lesson after that costs £22. Those who sign on for lessons will be invited to attend talks given by the Essex Police on the dangers of drink and drugs driving and on other aspects of better driving. The aim is to teach young drivers basic car control skills so that when they start out on public roads more attention can be given to developing their hazard awareness and road sense and so make them better drivers. For more information, or to make a booking call 07847 645632, or email the YDS organiser on yds@iamchelmsford.org.uk.
